Privacy Policy for Enclave AI

At Enclave AI, privacy is our core feature. Our app is designed to operate primarily offline, ensuring your data stays exclusively on your device when using local models. We now also offer optional cloud-based models through OpenRouter integration for users who need additional capabilities.

1. Data Collection Policy

We are committed to privacy through technical design:

  • When using local models, we do not collect any personal information
  • We do not require account creation or registration for our app
  • We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage metrics (e.g., screen views, button taps) to improve the app
  • We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports and diagnostics to improve app stability
  • We do not track or store user messages or prompts
  • For subscription users, we maintain servers to manage subscription status and cloud AI credits (see Section 6 for details)
  • We have no ability to access your conversations or prompts

2. App Store and Device Permissions

The only data collection occurs through Apple's App Store during app installation and updates. This is handled by Apple, not us. The app may request the following device permissions:

  • Microphone access (for voice chat feature - processed entirely on device)
  • Messages access (for iMessage integration - processed locally)
  • Siri & Shortcuts access (for automation features - processed locally)
  • Internet access (required only for cloud model usage through OpenRouter)

3. Local Data Storage

All data generated through your use of Enclave AI is stored locally on your device:

  • Custom assistant configurations
  • User preferences and settings
  • Conversation history (including both local and cloud model interactions)

This data remains under your control and can be deleted using your device's storage management features.

4. AI Models

Our local AI models:

  • Are downloaded once during app installation
  • Run completely offline on your device
  • Do not send data to external servers
  • Do not require internet connection for operation

5. OpenRouter Integration and Cloud Models

When using cloud-based models through our OpenRouter integration:

  • Your conversation data is sent to OpenRouter's servers and the respective model providers
  • Data handling is subject to OpenRouter's privacy policy and the policies of the model providers
  • We clearly indicate when you are using a cloud model versus a local model
  • Cloud model usage requires an internet connection and an OpenRouter account
  • We do not store or process your OpenRouter API key on our servers
  • We have no control over how OpenRouter or third-party model providers may use data sent to their services

6. Subscription and Payment Data

When you subscribe to Enclave AI's cloud AI services:

  • All payment processing is handled by Apple through the App Store - we do not collect or store your payment card details
  • We receive a transaction identifier from Apple to verify your subscription status
  • We store your subscription status, tier, and credit balance on our secure servers
  • We track credit usage to deduct costs when you use cloud AI features
  • We do not sell or share your subscription data with third parties except as necessary to provide the service
  • Subscription data is transmitted securely using industry-standard encryption

This data is used solely to provide and manage your subscription service and is not used for advertising or marketing purposes.

7. Analytics and Crash Reporting (Firebase)

We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to improve app quality:

  • Analytics data is anonymous and limited to app interactions such as screen views and button taps
  • Crash reports include technical diagnostics (e.g., device model, OS version, stack traces) and do not include user messages or personal content
  • We do not collect names, emails, or any identifiers tied to your identity
  • There is no authentication; analytics are not linked to any account

8. Third-Party Integration Privacy

When using system integrations:

  • iMessage integration processes messages locally on your device when using local models
  • Siri & Shortcuts interactions are handled through Apple's privacy-preserving frameworks
  • Voice processing uses Apple's on-device speech recognition
  • When using cloud models with these integrations, your data will be sent to external servers

9. Data Retention

We retain data for the following periods:

  • Subscription data: Retained while your subscription is active, plus 90 days after expiration for account recovery purposes
  • Analytics data: Retained for up to 14 months per Firebase defaults
  • Crash reports: Retained for 90 days
  • Local data: Stored on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app

10. Your Data Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal data we hold
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data
  • Portability: Request your data in a portable format
  • Opt-out: Opt out of analytics data collection by disabling analytics in iOS/macOS privacy settings

11. Children's Privacy

Our app is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect or process data from children under 13.

12. Your Responsibilities

While we ensure privacy through our approach, you are responsible for:

  • Maintaining your device's security
  • Managing your device's backup settings
  • Protecting access to your device
  • Managing any data you choose to share from the app
  • Understanding the privacy implications of using cloud models versus local models
  • Reviewing OpenRouter's privacy policy and the policies of any cloud model providers you use

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. We will notify you of any material changes through the app or our website.
